Artist's Biography

JOHN (JACK) C. MORLEY

Born in Santa Barbara, California, Jack attended Santa Barbara High School where he majored in Art. Upon graduation, he spent one semester studying figure drawing and charcoal drawing at Mexico City College.

Returning home, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served several years in Europe. After an honorable discharge, he attended Cal Poly Tech in San Luis Obispo, graduating as an architectural engineer with a minor in art.

Morley worked for a City Planning Consultant in Pasadena for several years before moving to the San Diego area where he practiced architecture and graphic design.

In 2003, Jack and his wife, Marilyn, moved to Sedona, Arizona where they still reside and has continued his avocation of drawing with graphite and wax pencil. This mixed media process combines the subtlety of graphite with the bold contrast of prisma color wax pencil.
