Artist's Biography
Vince Fazio’s background in the arts began with a year at an Academia for the Arts in Bergamo, Italy, directly after high school. With this exposure and validation as a young artist, it was natural for him to continue in the arts. He furthered his studies upon returning to the states with four years in New York City at The National Academy of Design and the Arts Student League of New York. He earned his MFA from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. Vince’s work demonstrates the powerful impact that properly balanced aesthetics in art conveys to the viewer. Tapping into the most natural harmony in art expression is an achievement that tests the degree and skill of the best artists. The thought process of the artist often deals with impressions of sense, and inspiration in a unique and original way that differs from the commonplace. Fazio shares his stream of thought on creating art and meaning. Art has many facets: “On the romantic side a love of the new, the colorful; artistically the unique, spontaneous and even fragmentary. Artists can’t help but experiment with these potentially contradictory impulses as though one could choose sides and find each leading to a separate reality. Ultimately, art acts as a bridge between the two, building the connection between what is fleeting and ephemeral and what is lasting and meaningful.” Currently, Vince is Director of the School of the Arts at SAC (Sedona Arts Center). During his 12 years as director, he has facilitated the building of a national audience for SAC’s growing program of workshops, field expeditions and classes. He is also the Chairman for SAC’s “Sedona Plein Air Festival,” developing special exhibitions and events associated with the weeklong celebration of the art of landscape painting. Vince has taught extensively at the college and university level in all areas of studio arts and currently teaches classes at the Arts Center. |
